Maria Alexiou
Maria Alexiou, holds a first degree in Law from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) and a master’s degree in international and European Human Rights Law with professional expertise and experience in sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. Served as Corporate Social Responsibility Director at TITAN Group from 2003 to 2019 and Corporate Communications and CSR Director at FANCO S.A. (Textiles Group of Companies) from 1998 to 2002.
As an expert, was nominated as co-ordinator and PMO of different multistakeholder project task forces and working groups (GRI, EFRAG Sustainability Lab, EFRAG Secretariat, CSR Europe, CSR Hellas) mainly studying best practices and developing the global and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards as defined in the context of the European Union Social Charter and the 2015 Paris Agreement for Climate Change.
Actively engaged in co-operative programs and initiatives empowering common action and new forms of joint efforts and investments between private and private sector, civil society, and academia to meet the global Sustainable Development Goals 2030 while ensuring transparency, accountability and inclusion for all in the pursue of a just transition. In 2022, partnered with a team of experts to establish ALMA Services for Sustainability focusing on supporting interested stakeholders to embed sustainability principles and standards towards sustainable business models.
